Concept store represents the coming of age of consumer taste, where a designer’s role extends to that of a curator who puts together a palette of the finest pret collections for an evolved clientele with a global sensibility.
Today’s fashion-conscious individuals are keen to express their personal sense of style, while evincing their awareness of the latest international trends. Now Kolkata too can boast of a fashion concept store with a unique vision — CORAL, so named for the timelessness, depth and visual variety that it embodies.
Coral believes that fashion today has transcended boundaries, challenged traditions and altered societal perception. Sprawled over a 1650 sq ft space, the decor of the store is inspired by the boutiques of Mill Valley, SoHo, Antwerp and the south of France, enhancing the theme of vintage elegance with stylised modern elements.
Coral is a first of its kind in Kolkata — a store showcasing multiple European and Indian designers and allowing its patrons to dive deep and explore possibilities of fashion, art and lifestyle.
Inspired and driven by her passion for fashion and styling, Vibha found herself dabbling into fashion designing at an early age, while still pursuing her Arts degree in Loreto College, Kolkata. In her journey from being a young designer to her recent experience at FIT, New York, she has always found herself motivated to explore her career further in Fashion and learn all aspects of it. In the 90s, she joined Sreepriya Exports Pvt. Ltd, a Fashion manufacturing house, where she continues the privilege of working with the creative genius Dries Van Noten from Belgium for over 20 years, along with several other prominent International designers.
Her early exposure to the fashion industry coupled with professional training, work experiences and numerous visits to trade shows across the globe, has made her truly understand the developments in this ever-evolving fashion world. Knowing the immense scope for International Fashion in India, she took a giant leap into Fashion Retail and made an honest endeavor to blend European fashion sensibilities in a unique way. Her store ‘Coral’ is a gift to the city of joy & her constant effort is to curate a stunning collection with her discerning eye for fashion trends and spoil Kolkata with a varied assortment of western wear, handbags, shoes and accessories.
Family has always been a great support and recently her daughter Tanvi who just completed her under-grad in States, takes keen interest in the business development of CORAL. Vibha draws her inspiration in life from the Art of Living Foundation and remains deeply committed to it. She also supports numerous projects connected to women empowerment and education. Being an enthusiast, she indulges in hiking, swimming, travel, playing badminton and music to keep herself rejuvenated in life!
